I hate to come off as so pretentious to think that too many of you give a crap what I've been up to... but apparently a few people are curious... so I'm making this quick post.

I have NOT fallen off the face of the earth and turned my back on knifemaking!

I have had very little time off since starting my job, and since I am "low man on the totem pole" I most often get volunteered by my foreman to work a ton of overtime. I just had a 16.5 hour day on Friday.

HOWEVER!!! I have been sneaking an hour here, an hour there, and occasionally even a full Saturday or Sunday into the shop.

I recently REfinished a bowie for Peter, and have also finished a couple hunters and nearly a fighter and a BIG bowie.

I've also struggled in the heat to get an itegral forged out for our very own Jim Cooper.

Some of the knives will be going to Coop for photos... just so you all know I'm not pulling anybody's leg.

The knives I've finished up lately are ones that were nearly done for the Reno show and did not require a huge amount of time. I'm back to working on orders now though.

Thanks everybody :D

Will you be finishing any daggers?:D

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I heard my name and 'integral' in the same sentence. What a nice sound...

I'm pleased to hear you are being so deliberate about your full-time work, and just as pleased to hear of your remaining passion for the blade.

Thanks for the heads-up. A friendly voice is never presumptuous in announcing his return. :D

Keep at it Nick. The matched set is longing to come to its new home, I am sure. ;)

Roger

Just keep at it, Nick.

Oh yeah, and post pics of these knives you're finishing.

dont worry bud, in another couple of decades, you will be an overnite success, like me!!!!!!!!!!:p :D :p

problem is, by then your back and eyes will be gone and everyone will call you a hasbeen!!!!!!!!!:o

and PS.......I am sure I want a bowie from you one of these days!

Nick,

You did a terriffic job on my Bowie! It was way beyond the call of duty and I am enjoying the previously hidden temperline.

Many thanks!

Peter

Nick,
Good to hear, not that they're bustin' your ass but that you're keeping your eye on the ball.
We haven't TALKED yet but we will. :D

Doug:)

Nick if youve got time to peck away at a keyboard you got time to work in the shop.... now get to work

Kidding aside, I can relate as im trying to get back up and running with my knives while working a full time job doing Ironwork and welding etc... makes for some long days/nights that seem to melt together.

Cant wait to see some pics of something new from the Wheeler shop:)

Thanks guys! :D

Peter, I'm glad you like it... it's interesting how much it changed the overall look of the knife.

Just for s's & g's... the knives I finished are a 1084 hunter with black ash burl handle, a "Marbles Woodcraft" type of knife forged from 1084 with ironwood, an ironwood and random damascus fighter, and a BIG 52100 bowie (12" blade).

An interesting side note... the customer for the hunter backed out as he had heard I was a potentially dangerous buy since I had fallen into obscurity. Dang! That was fast!!! I thought I was one of the new kids on the block, I didn't know I was teetering so dangerously on the edge!

LMAO :D

Well, I've got the 4th off, so I'm going to the shop!

Thanks everybody

Nick the Obscure, that has a ring to it. LOL!

Sort of like Ethelred the Unready ;)
