How do you guys do it? How in the world do you guys know about all these back alley trades, midnight madness specials, and what the hell is a death chat?

Ever since filling out the order form for my first piece of INFI (any time now Jerry) I've been coming in here to try and get a feel for this new and elite world I'm trying to get into. I consider myself reasonably intelligent and I have been paying attention, so How did I not know about some sort of GW sale going on? Apparently there was a sudden rush on red handled GW's and a lot of bitching about the F5 key. What happened with that and how do I get in line for the next one?

Also, no matter how feverently I pay attention to the Busse Combat site I have no idea what model is coming out next, when the current one is sold out, or otherwise. Yet when I read in here some appear to be psychic. Some folks seem to know what's coming out next without me having seen any evidence to make that call. What am I missing?

What the hell is a death chat and is it important for my Busse customer experience?

Why am I waiting until May for the Badger Attack I ordered late January to arrive? I would assume when a new Model appears on the website that means they are available no?

I guess what I'm going for here is how can I become a better informed, and apparently more competitive INFI hunter? Money is not my strong suite so I suspect I must become more crafty with my Busse purchases, I must be like the wind blowing unseen through the hog pen, snatching up small scraps of this INFI steel and then running like a scared little girl... or something like that..

No doubt there are trades going on amongst the mightiest hogs that we are unaware of.

However, monitoring this site is how I know about GWs that are about to hit the Company Store (posts from IdahoSkunk). Monitoring this site is also how you'll find out about Extravaganzaas (posts directly from Jerry). There is no magic...just visit the site often.

As far as the long wait times...that's the way it goes and you should expect that from any quality knife from a quality knife maker. You can lurk on the For Sale Forums and find some deals for instant gratification though.

Hi Chambers!
I am new also, didn't get my first INFI until last month! I have been able to catch on some.

Watch Idaho Skunks posts as to when goodies are going to hit the company store. Then constantly reload F5 the page until the goodies show. Act fast when they do!

The new line up is posted on bad Mojo, They don't anounce what is going to be next, but you can see what has already been released and there are only a few left that are still coming

Have not been to the death chat, but drinking seems to be a requirement....
Good LUCK!!!

Welcome to the Busse forum.

The best place to start would be the stickied threads at the top of the forum.

A lot of info there, including the offering/delivery logic, definitions of terms commonly tossed around here, and lots of other scoops.

This community has the full spectrum of participants, some dawners, and newbies all the time.

A lot of helpful people here, a good number of pranksters, and a feel more of family than just a group of collectors.

Hope you stick around and participate.

If you want to know what is going on, you have to spend lots of time on the Busse forum. It is the only place where you can find the "insider information" about when things will be for sale at the Company store, etc. None of this is ever posted on the Busse site or Company Store site. No idea why not....Apparently everyone at Busse is just too drunk all the time to provide this info on their sites...This forum is it. So either spend lots of time monitoring this site, or you are SOL.

If it is the GW you want, of course, you can always buy on the exchange and pay a premium if you can't or don't want to spend your time monitoring relentlessly for that secret tip! Just buy from one of the few who has the time to piece together the puzzle, pound their keyboard, and scoop up a dozen or more, saving you the time and misery of missing that .2 second opportunity to buy! Hey, more time you could be drinking!

Long waits? No problem-again buy at the exchange at a premium, or better yet, just stay drunk all the time, you will hardly care! And time will fly by! So just drink more, and have NO REGRETS!

This says it all :thumbup::thumbup:
I also had no glue at the beginning.
You just to hang around and you will discover all the secrets.
Took me about 1 month to have an idea whats going on.
It just takes a little more effort but its worth it.

How do you find out about GWs? Watch the Skunk, read all of his posts, all of them. :)

Yet when I read in here some appear to be psychic. Some folks seem to know what's coming out next without me having seen any evidence to make that call. What am I missing?

No psychics here. We have the shop bugged and there is a surveillance team with high powered parabolic microphones sitting on the place. No really if you want to know when models are going out, just watch for Jerry's posts saying something is running short of time. If he says it is close to being pulled down, you probably have a week left, but he never seems togive you an exact date. As for knowing what is coming out, some of us have very good instincts combined with deductive reasoning. The rest of us wait for Jerry to announce it. :)

What the hell is a death chat and is it important for my Busse customer experience?
Death Chat germaine to your customer experience? Is oxygen germaine to life? :) Death Chat is an unpredictable beast that is second only to the ganzas for turn out. How do they start? Ususally a post saying something like "Let's drink!!!!!!" It snowballs from there. What is the format and content based on? That all depends on how drunk we are.

Why am I waiting until May for the Badger Attack I ordered late January to arrive? I would assume when a new Model appears on the website that means they are available no?

No. The knives are not made until ordered and they are doing them in batchs according to finish and handle options (as I recall). This is all part of Jerry's semi custom production approach. See here: Busse Production Protocols at the release of the new line.

That is a secret not even the oldest of hogs has revealed fully unto themselves. We are all looking for the way.

There were a few instances of GW's for sale on the exchange that were very close to the original sale price. You just have to be patient and surf a lot. Don't wait to react when those come out as they may not last long when they are priced in that manner. I paid a premium for mine at first. Just couldn't wait.
The Badger Attack TAC is the latest model and was announced prior to being offered. There was a post or two (if I recall correctly it was Amy O and Jerry) saying the FMB would be removed within a week or so and then there was a preview of the new model posted in the forums. Pay special attention to Jerry's posts!
Idaho Skunk gave suttle hints in his posts "prior to the release" and then posted about the new fire wardens, posted a picture of them, and told what day and hour (time zone included) they would be available. They of course did not last long.
You have to spend a LOT of time here to keep up with whats going on pertaining to special models or events. It doesn't take much time to be fairly current on the offerings from the main Busse site. Their last offering was the CGFBM and the LE which were available for purchase for MANY weeks. Same with the current offering there. It will likely be up for a long time. That is the real way to get the exact blade/handle color combo you want and at the regular price. I have heard lots of talk about the F5 key and visited the company store many times. I have never seen a GW for sale there with the exception of one snag I made on the fire warden (but I spent a lot of time surfing to get that snag!). Rumor is that the FBM's will be available there when all the orders are filled and shipped from the Busse Combat Knife company. So if you didn't order one before they were replaced with the Badger, you may have another opportunity.
All of us INFI newbies are in the same boat in an effort to score. I hope that helps a little.

I'm pretty darn new myself...

However. I'm not here to make a profit. There are others like me.

Look around for them. Folks like myself who luck into 'extra INFI' always offer them at cost -- whatever we paid (at company store or from Jerry plus shipping costs). That's usually your best deal.

Some folks also make deals before sale days at BCS. If YOU can't be present, perhaps a buddy can!

Except for older and very rare INFI, I really don't see a lot of profiteering going on. I don't HAVE to buy those wonderful SHSH or SFNO...

But I've been accusing of being a cock-eyed optimist before.

Good hunting. Yours in INFI.

Sweet. So umm, what's next and when? :D

actually, most of us just speculate here. if you look at the past line, and look at badmojo.tv, you can, through process of elimination, figure some things out.

thats how we were fairly certain the badger tac was next.

and, yes, spending time here helps. skunk posts pics and ominous clues when the store is receiving new items. he usually posts an approximate time for their release as well.

biggest clue for the store releases is when the order pages are down. then the f5ing comes into play.

but really, only jerry knows everything. amy gets some info, but cant keep secrets very well. :)

skunk often knows stuff, but he keeps secrets very well.

Welcome ! It seemed like a lot to digest at first, but a couple of weeks of reading and you'll feel like a pro

I was lucky enough to find this place in Dec when there were lots of Game Wardens popping up for sale in different variations so it didn't seem as mysterious as it might these days - the fire warden is the first one to appear since the end of 2006.

This link is also really cool for checking out what the Busse combat site looked like at the time each knife was available.. some hog pointed me to it when I was first learning about these great knives!

BADGERS!!!!!

I have posted recently that I am new to all this as well and I have been getting little sleep trying to get on top of it all. But it just came to me that if I were to get a handle on it, It would probably stop beeing SO much fun! I did get a good bit of info off this thread about the Busse forum on their website so now I am monitoring that as well. Just so you know, it is not just the knives. The knives are WAY COOL and worth every $$$ if you can get one. But most of all it's the people in here. I don't always say the right thing and this community is quick to protect there own! No politically Correct nonesense in here and I like that. It has been a long time since I have wanted to belong to something. But I am having blast and learning and laughing alot while in these forums. I will take my lumps and learn my lessons and I hope in time I will be considered a true HOG!!!!
