  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

I thought maybe, just maybe, the BK-15 would unseat my beloved BK-5 as my favorite knife.

But... no.

I can't decide which one I like better.

I decided not to strip the 15 after I sanded down the rough coating on the blade. I only sanded the blade from the tip to ricasso and left the rest of it rough. That subtle two-tone effect combined with the brown scales has really grown on me.

I convexed the edge bevels and finished the edge on my Surgical Black and strop. Typical KaBar quality. The edge is scary now.

After handling it, and fondling it, and touching it inappropriately for a while, it seems to me that the 15 feels and handles more like a weapon than the 5. Definitely a 21st century scalping knife.

The BK-15 will for sure be my new main blade for hunting and fishing, but I still got to have Old BK-5 for the bigger slicing. I mean sure the 15 will perform very well for skinning a deer and gutting catfish, but what if I need to skin a mastadon?

There is one feature though where the BK-15 really does it for me: the handle. The handle has got to be the most comfortable handle I've ever experienced. It's like it melts into my hand. It gives me a special feeling.

Then you sir, will have found yourself in some sort of time warp and chances are your 15 will be superior to that of the tools used by the troglodytes of the area. You'll have cavewomenz servicing your every need! :D Oh yeah...

Seriously though, I don't have the 15 yet, but since I looove the 5, it'll only be a matter of time before I do!

Not all of them will look like Wilma Flintstone.... I bet most of them would be hairy in more than a couple places..... Ever seen a chick with a full blown mustache and beard in a loin cloth?

Any pics of the 15 guttin a fish....? I have a nagging suspicion that i might need one for this summer for all my fishing excursions. Oh and lets see some pics of that sanding job on your 15, I wanna see !!!

i posted a gutted trout or 2 as gutted by a BK15.

worked pretty well. went right through the spine. plink.

i'm thinking i should have tried my convexed BK15, but well, that's elsewhere for a time, all i had handy was the BK15 factory edge. worked fine.

I know what you mean wolf. I absolutely love my 15 I find myself looking for reasons to go into the kitchen and cut things. The handle on the new tweeners is perfect for me, I just melts into my hand.
