Hopefully, they find a way to make them with an upgraded locking mechanism, like a spring loaded bar. I just don't trust liner locks.

Liner Locks are the only knives I have ever had fold up on me. Several.
I think it may just be the way I grip one. But have never had a lock back (110) or a frame lock fold on me.

My Guess:

Later this year or in 2026, Buck will introduce the Range Select. It will be the budget version of the Pro and Elite Range introduced this week at the 2025 SHOT Show. It will be very similar to the classic Vantage Select/Avid with 420HC, an open back, new scale imprint/inserts, and an axis lock. $60-80. Large and Mini.

If not...they should.

And perhaps throw in an XL option for jbmonkey. He's been waiting long enough.

^ A Range Select with maybe S35VN or Magnacut would be nice, but would up the price a bit. What I'd really go for is a plain old 112 Slim Select with S35VN or Magnacut. I have one in 420HC, and I absolutely love it, but one with upgraded steel would be much more better-er.

so no xl version vantage then.....

it shows the Range having a 3.375 inch blade so it is a 1/4” longer than a large vantage so almost an XL size. Wish they could have stretched it another 1/8” to 3.5 that would be great!
Edit, I have learned that it actually isn’t that much longer. So disregard this post.

The Vantage blades have a couple of different ways to measure them. From the center of the blade, it is 3 1/8", but from either the top, or bottom of the blade is it 3 3/8", the same that Buck is reporting for the new Range. The Mini Range seems to have the same blade length spec as the Vantage small. Until someone is able to show size comparison photos, we won't know if Buck patterned the blade dimensions of the Range after the Vantage.

Yeah I can see that now. I’ve always measured from the rounded mid point of the handle and wondered why the blade didn’t measure the same as advertised length. I guess Ive learned something today. Lol

That is how I measure blades. Basically how deep it can stab.
