Stimulus Money at Work

Like the title. Like your tag "thanks Trump". You should also include, "thanks fellow Americans, especially those in need".

Me and my other cohorts in small business will probably be out of business in another couple of months. I depleted part of my own personal savings so I wouldn't have to lay anyone off, but that is over since it is getting worse instead of better. I won't be able to support my family, much less the families of those I employ. At least I don't have their kids to support... unemployment here in Texas could still be weeks away in processing... so they are pretty screwed. My guys are begging for any work, even my painters and carpenters wanting job site clean up work. Can't do it though as I am rapidly running out of money, too, and legal advice tells me that I will assume some of the liability for their well being if I let them work on my site. I feel awful... I feel like I have let them down some way. They may be employees, but they are also guys that I have had for years and in a couple of cases I am closer to them than family. We have had some brainstorming sessions, but when we can't work, we can't work, and we can't generate money for us or our families. Working from home? Nope. So we are all pretty screwed.

Talking with my CPA firm today she told me that she has had several small businesses that she takes care of start the process to file bankruptcy. She is afraid to do taxes for many of her clients as she doesn't think they will be around to pay the bill. Sure... they moved the due date, but the tax man ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS gets his due. She also enlightened me that they are re-casting the way they see small businesses, and I may not get any benefit since I only have 5 people. Exploring the small business loan companies that are out there, they can lend money at favorable rates, but in my case, when this all finally calms down, who will want their kitchen or bath remodeled? How long before any of us recover? I have been in business for almost 40 years, and the last big recession/depression took me about 3 years to recover enough to get my business back on track, but most of my savings lost. At my age now, this is horrifying...

But back on track. Nice to see that someone knows how to weather this storm with some grace and aplomb. Looks like a great knife! Not sure that's how the relief package money was meant to be spent, but hey, sometimes it's good to be an American!

M midnight flyer , my prayers are with you brother!
Lots of people are in the same boat. We’ll get through it. Our grandparents went through many fires and it bread the greatest generation!

OP, sorry for going off topic!
My most recent stimulus to the knife economy occurred last fall and wasn’t too different from yours!

Congrats again on a beauty!

My GF and I won't qualify for a stimulus check, but I have plenty of friends who are waiting anxiously for theirs. I'll probably pass down my Small Sebenza to my daughter if she wants it. It was my carry when she was born

Wow Robert, all of that over a knife. Really?? I was trying for a catchy subject title and actually didn't use any stimulus money for the purchase. I have a little extra money because my wife and I are stuck at home like everyone else neither of us are spending any money. I have noticed similar thread subjects and have not noticed you crapping on them. I will remove the post and hopefully you will sleep better tonight.
