ok, so I made this knife for a little fund raising auction ( it's a donation)
..I'm never grinding buff horn again :barf: :barf:
Alot of my riding buddies are going to be bidding, so I geard it ( no pun intended) twards them. I figured it would be a nice boot knife..more like a boot razor the way it's ground:
5/32" ats34, 1" wide...OAL is about 8"
nasty buff horn scales..and a chrome skull for the pommel/butt

I hope to get some better pics later today. What do you folks think?( other than I can't take a pic to save my life)

Looks good, yes horn does stink when grinding, but it's one of my favorite handle materials.

Yeah, it's stinky but like Will said, beautiful stuff and well worth the effort. That's a nice knife, I'd like to see the skull too. Good luck with the donation auction!

thanks guys..I'm curious--it's the 1st time I've used horn, how do you get rid of all the little "flaws" ? I know it's the grain in the horn, but it's driving me a bit nuts. Foe a while I felt like a dog chasing it's tail

Sean (for some reason I was gonna call you Sam) I've never had a problem with voids in the horn but you could fill them with superglue. Now, how about a picture of that skull? Do I have to beg? :D

Speaking of stinking, I cut up some ivory this morning and I've got to get out of here before anyone else gets up! :D Or I'm in deep trouble...
