Stippling an Endura for better grip

I posted about doing this in the Spyderco forum and someone asked for pix. Here are a couple I stepped outside and snapped of my older stainless Endura that I stippled with a spring-loaded center punch. It takes longer that putting grip tape on it, but it's permanent and still quite grippy.

The other side was only stippled near the butt so I can get a secure grip to pull it from my pocket.

Looks good Elkins! Looks better than the grip tape IMO plus you don't have to worry about it coming off!

Now I'm off to the hardware store for a spring loaded center punch!

Very effective and attractive stippling can be done with an electric engraving pencil.
You can even do a "sandblast" finish with practice.

Here's a Byrd Crossbill i did with a dremel.Not that pretty,but it gives a much improved grip. http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj311/piglipsticker/?action=view&current=DSCN0253.jpg

Wow, that makes mine look sad! I assume you used the abrasive cutoff wheels to do the part that looks like checkering? That's $100 of work on a $30 knife!

I've got a couple of Byrds (including a Crossbill) coming in the mail from a purchase on BF. Now that I've seen this picture I'm afraid I'm going to be forced to do something similar to one of them.:p

I'm afraid you may have started a terrible trend here:D

I did my Endura 4 last night similar to what Elkins did. I'm big on symmetry so I laid a peice of graph paper over the knife to keep the dots all in line., worked out pretty well. This could be done with the dremel and cutting wheel also to keep the lines straight(although I know a dremel is fairly hard to keep steady, at least for me anyway). Just thought I'd share that in case someone hadn't thought of it.

I think i could line it a little straighter the second time.I wasn't too worried because the knife is a user and pretty easy to replace.I fileworked it too.

Or a tile saw on a rolling platform
