Stippling handles?

How do people "stipple" their plain metal handles (ala Perkin's "Kerver"). Anybody know? I've made my version of a "La Griffe" in O-1 and want to keep the handle metal.

You could try an old gunsmiths trick of using a Vibro-engraver in small circular patterns to raise a stipple (works great on front and back straps of handguns as well as a replacement for checkering on some of the denser woods and plastics). Most Vibro-engravers have an adjustment wheel that can deepen or lighten the depth of stipple. I have a Dremel Mod 290 that wasn't too expensive and has held up pretty well.

Thanks for the idea by the way, I hadn't given a stipple finish a consideration until you mentioned it.

Dav, Thanx--- I was about to resort to the Dremel. It's what I use when I don't know what to use. Perkins has handles that look as though he gouged the steel. Very cool. I'll go try to duplicate it.
