I am new to this forum and also to to Busse Knives. I bought an Axe Hammer from Axelson.... very impressive steel. So I went ahead and ordered the Battle Mistress from Bussecombat.com. Now I understand the shipping says 4-14 weeks, but that's a very broad answer. I've called them three times during business hours, and the phone recording tells me to call between business hours. I left messages, and I wrote an email. I'm not pissed because I don't know how these guys are/do business. I just figured that my question was very basic and I didn't see it on the FAQ. It's like calling the pizza place to ask about your order 2 hours later and no one will answer the phone. I would think that the Battle Mistress is a stock item that they would maybe coat and ad a handle if even that, so I figured it would be around 2-3 weeks. But they say they charge the credit card 14 days before it ships. I'm trying to take this think backpacking on the 25th, doesn't look like I'm gonna make it at this rate. Any knowledge? Thanks in advance.

I believe the whole crew was at Blade last week and should be open for business today. Give them time to catch up and you should get some answers.

They are extremely busy and just finishing Blade Show. Probably won't happen but you never know. Their service is AAA so give them a chance. The knife you ordered is amazing and worth the wait.

Just FYI, the shop was closed for Blade Show 2015. There is a thread posted here letting the forum know. BUSSE Combat has the Best customer service I have seen yet. I'm 100% positive you will get a response once they are back in the office and up and running. I'm sure they are swamped with emails and calls. Blade Show as far as I know is the biggest show of the year and Busse Combat goes above and beyond at that show, that being said I'm sure they are a tad exhausted :)

Can't go wrong with the ASHBM ! Awesome blade for sure ! What color combo are you going for ?

Hello and Welcome to the Madness,

So you're new --- that means there's a lot to go over. Below are some bullet points that will bring you up to speed:

1. Busse/Bussekin knives are semi customs --- that means that they take longer with respect to production -- but ensure a higher quality product.
2. The biggest event/show in the Knife community just ended (Blade 2015) -- which means that all their efforts have been focused on this exciting event. Keeping that in mind --- everything will take longer than usual.
3. Calling during business hours and speaking to Lexi, Pokey, or Garth via phone is the most sure way of getting anyone's attention.
4. The company receives massive numbers of emails that often have very detailed and very specific questions. The Busse crew try to get to al of them -- but given Blade 2015 --- the sheer volume of emails must be astronomical.
5. 4-14 weeks is a time frame offered to customers that allows the company enough time to do the following: acquire steel blanks, heat treat them, coat/grind/handle, and then send them to the shipping team where there is often a wait or delay due to other knives being ordered before your own
6. This is how it all works and we're happy to welcome you to the Hog pen

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yeah I'm sure something was up, because I've had friends bend over backwards talking about this INFI steel. The setup I ordered is Mil Green Blade with the black and green G10 handle. And yes I know they're always busy but wasn't sure if anyone could just tell me based off their experiences with them that "yes" the Battle Mistress is a stock item. I'm just trying to take this thing to the mountains and thought I ordered in plenty of time. It's been over 12 days and heard nothing. Thanks again for feedback. And the Axe Hammer is really nasty. Didn't come sharp at all "Sharpened by Beef" was written on the package, so I did it with fine diamond-Arkansas stone and the thing shaves hair, even after I buried it into a tree.

In my experience, website orders usually take 6-9 weeks. Of course, people have reported longer and shorter wait times.

When you receive it, you will enjoy it; fantastic blade. Congrats and welcome

6-9 weeks.... no worries. I don't care about waiting but I tried to time it right. I didn't even know about this company. My friend has an ASH-1 and the BM both satin finish. I knew I was meant to have one just feeling the weight of the steel.... ridiculous. Thanks again for the reply. I'll post pics whenever it gets here.

I don't know how this happened, beef is the best. That is very unusual. I request him to sharpen ever knife I order from them. I've never had one he sharpened not shave...Weird

Yeah I thought so too, but it did come from Axelson Tactical so I figured that this "BEEF" character was someone over there. It was nearly sharp, I had to hit it only a few times and it was rocking. Wasn't really that big of a deal but I compared it to the ASH-1 that was just retarded sharp.

Since the demise of the Busse Company Store, there are no 'in stock' knives available for immediate delivery. The blades shown on the Busse Family websites are available for order and take roughly as long as stated to make to order and ship. You have your choice of blade coating [or finish (Satin, BIG, DCBB) if offered] and handle slab material. All this takes time. The only ones available for immediate purchase are secondary market blades available here on the exchange and/or at various re-sellers including auction sites (caveat emptor). You can wait for your shop order or you can prowl the sites, hoping to pounce on your choice if/when one becomes available. All part of the fun/madness.
Pete

They also get military orders from time to time, and those are prioritized. You never know what they might be working on, since we only know about them if they release an overrun to the public, and that is usually after the fact.

I think mine have ranged from 3-12 weeks for standard orders, as fast as 3 days from a ganzaa

Just handled up a blade with those handles that is destined to have a green blade. If that one is yours it should be getting coated next week.

Garth
