Paracord lanyards are a bit of a weakness of mine, and I discovered a few months ago that a series of 3 Matthew Walker knots tied together in a row fit perfectly inside a de-primed .45 ACP shell, and with a 3/16" hole drilled through (which is just slightly smaller than the primer) makes the perfect keychain lanyard.
Here i have a picture of my current lanyards made so far, so that if any of you want to give it a try you can see how I did it. On the left are two .45 ACP casing-lanyards, which use 3 Matthew Walker knots (Peter Atwood's website has some awesome instructions on how to tie the knot, http://www.atwoodknives.com/home/16390018.php) in a line, and then today i found a .45 Long Colt and used 4 knots to make the same effect of a knot sticking out to look like a bullet.
My style is not the only way, if you don't have a drill or are too lazy, you could just cut the tails off of the end of the knot and just have a loop, or you could run the loop through the small hole and melt the tails off of the last knot in the series and make it look fancy. It is also possible to use other casings, so far .45 caliber seems to be the perfect size, but I bet that pulling out one or two of the inner strands of the paracord could make it fit in smaller size, or if you like to go big and happen to have some .45-70 brass lying around you could make a big lanyard (that i would like to see
.
If you like knot work or crafts in general like I do then I hope you enjoy this little post, although I'm sorry I didn't make any awesome step by step instructional on how to make these.
