Most of my stockmans patterns are laid out thus:

One side, main clip (or spear) blade and secondary sheepsfoot blade. Other side, spey or pen blade.

However, I just got my Buck 301 back from my father, and noticed/remembered that the pattern is, one side main clip or spear blade, spey blade, and other side sheepsfoot blade.

How many patterns out there like this? Not anything ground breaking or even interesting, but inquiring minds want to know while coffee takes its hold on them.:D

The early Buck 301 knives had the more typical configuration of the blades. I don't know how many there are like the newer Buck 301 knives though.

The Buck is the only one I've seen with the sheepfoot at the odd end, but I have seen several with the odd end spey blade replaced by a pen or even a smaller clip blade. I like the small clip in the third position.

I have a small clip blade replace the spay blade on my custom cattle knives by Erickson, Rogers and Kawamura.

If I recall correctly, this is my only stockman with that particular setup:

Elliott, I remembered yours and just bought this Queen made Roberson off the auction. Slim main on this one, 4" closed.

Nice. I didn't realize that Queen had reproduced that blade selection with any of their other marks.

(Off topic but I've got a slim master blade on a 4" stockman I'm carrying today, matter of fact.)

Maybe Ken Daniels will bring it back out in D2 and nice stag. He's got one sold already! ;)

Sometime in the late 90's, about 1999 as I recall.
