First off, i love my only stockman, an Uncle Henry 885UH. But i have a question about stockmans. Did any makers ever make a two bladed stockmen with one spring, that would mean blades on apposite ends. With the clip blade, and either spey or sheepsfoot on the opposite end? Pics are highly appreciated.

What you are describing sounds like a Moose Pattern.

Ah- Here's one by Gerber:

Not really what you describe but how about a single spring stockman minus the clip blade?

I like the looks of that! Neat pocketknife. How hard are they to find?

I was told they are somewhat rare. This was only the second one I have seen for sale this year. I missed out on the first one.

Rick, just out of curiosity...what knife is this? A Case "SMCB" (stockman minus clip blade)? :D

LOL :) It's an 02245 Budding & Grafting knife. Case considered it a "specialty" knife which is why not too many of them were made.

Queen produced a 4" Half Stockman with the clip as a main and a spey as the secondary blade on their serpentine frame in 1999-2001 as a special run...but I haven't seen it in any of their regular lines. It would of looked like the stockman bottom right minus sheepfoot.

I think the GEC half congress would fit the bill as well.

To me a stockman requires a serpentine frame and three blades. I think you're describing a moose or muskrat pattern. But I'm new here and will wait patiently to be corrected. My EDC is a case medium stockman for the last 11 years.

Mark......

On both the Moose and Muskrat patterns the two blades are of equal length...the Half Stockman would have two blades of different lengths..the longer clip blade and shorter spey blade on opposite ends

Jim - okay, but what about the frame style. I'm a GEC fan and I don't consider the 3 blade models on the 53/54 frame to be stockmans. So IMO a stockman from GEC is on the #66 frame. On a different note, I didn't notice the half congress earlier, nice.
I'm not the defender of the stockman, just trying to figure out if the serpentine frame matters.

Thanks for the info Rick.
I never really loved the spey blade, but for some reason I don't mind it at all on this knife. And I always liked a smaller straight blade (wharncliffe or sheepsfoot) as secondary. How long is the Case SMCB by the way? and what's the handle made of? smooth black bone? buffalo horn? thanks for sharing

Its not a stockman but what about a Schatt & Morgan Series XVI Serpentine Moose?

Mark...

No one will disagree that "traditionally" a Stockman is on a serpentine frame..but Great Eastern's flair sure makes the 53 frame a work horse . But then again I like the Equal End frame and don't mind the non serpentine style.

You're welcome, Fausto.
It is 3 5/8 inches closed. The handle scales are made of a black composite material that is sometimes referred to as "Slick Black".

This is the knife I thought of when I read the OP. If I was looking for a 2-blade stockman, this would be it. Unless you want a spey instead of the sheepsfoot. In which case the Sheffield up there should be just right. If you can find one.
