Stockman spring proud question

On a new stockman pattern 18, the spring is above the liners quite a bit when the blade is open. And the blade leans forward a lot compared to the old delrin.
My question, how can this be fixed ? Taking a bit from the part of the tang that makes contact with the spring ? Or there is nothing that can be done..
As a side note, the blades have some weird recurves, and the sheepsfoot is double the thickness compared to my delrin one, as the hollow is applied different, and starts lower from the spine.

compared to my delrin

it shows the blade sits much higher on the new one.

Not an expert, but it sounds like the tang on that particular blade was not ground correctly. I have a couple of knives like that, either the blade doesn't 'seat' and therefore is opened at an angle or it passes the 'seated' position creating an angle in the opposite direction.

I have a Queen made Indian River Jack that has the same problem. Flush when closed, and proud when open. Feels odd when opening too. Not real smooth. I honestly think that the pivot location on the blade may have been off a slight bit, but it could also be the tangs stop or spring stop. I really don't know. So I will be interested in some of the responses here as well.

You said new...take it back to the store if you can, and check for this in the future.

Without taking the knife apart we really can't say if it is the spring of the tang, but the tang is likely the most fixable of the two.

I'm in Europe, usually how it gets here that's how it stays..
That particular knife ain't mine, it belongs to a friend who just got it a few days ago. The same goes for him or for others that live around here. It would cost more than the knife itself to send it back, so we're better off buying a new one, and hope for a good one.

I have used both methods mentioned, and either one can cause the spring to drop below the liners, as altering either part can cause things to sit differently.

That being said, I find those methods are the best way to fix things, other than replacing it.

Thanks all for the tips, My friend said he doesn't mind this, so he will let it be. I wouldn't like that very much though, especially after having handled a good one.
