STOLEN Knife...."The Rebirth" or How I got my first CRK

So I've wanted to buy a Sebenza for years but like many I thought the dream was out of reach.

I recently had my first child, a son, and felt like now is the time to reward myself and later him by handing it down to him so the hunt was on.

So, I had settled on a small Insingo as being the most practical for my uses and since legal carry size in my state is 3.5 inches. I put a WTB ad here and received an offer for a (well used) small insingo for $210. I figured at that price it was well worth the gamble and small hassle to ship it off to CRK for a much needed spa visit.

It came back 5 weeks later looking brand new. I'm in it $246 with shipping to and from its spa visit. Big shout out to those great BF members making it possible for my family to have an heirloom piece.

Huge thanks to CRK for a fast refurbishing job and top notch work!

Congrats! The spa makes everything good as new! The small insingo is a great knife.

(Great snag with the price too!)

Great story! Also, that was a very cost effective way to get such a great knife. No doubt, a lot of coin still, but much cheaper than brand new for a knife that is just as good as brand new it seems.

edit: and congrats on your son!

It looked great used but now you get to make it your own......great catch...I would love to see some pictures of it in couple of years when you have made it really your own. Congrats on your son!!

You scored a great deal on that small Insingo! That is my very favorite knife and you have the silver hardware to boot!

Update:

My only nice knife was stolen! I went to dinner with my wife and when we got into the car something didn't feel right. My sebenza wasn't in my pocket.

I rushed back into the restaurant and found the booth had been cleaned. There was a scratch on the vinyl leading to the edge of the seat. Looks like the pocket clip caught at the edge. I checked everywhere in and around it but it was gone. The manager went into the back to see if anyone found it when cleaning the table. Of course they didn't.

I can't believe it. Such a sick feeling. I wish I could afford to replace it.

Check your seatbelts in your car..I have had mine pull out my CRK's before

Bummer dude. Was this just this week? Sometimes those restaurant booth seats are removeable. I once found my lost knife after I totally lifted the seat off the pedestal, it was on the cement underneath. It could have wiggled under there during the course of your meal. Best of luck!

I have checked the car for the 20th time, and checked the restaurant again. (Last week...just don't get to get on here much)

I was hoping for a miracle but it's just not happened.

I did speak with a local officer that I grew up with, he said he knows of a few times things have "gone missing" at this restaurant. He said it's usually cell phones left behind at a table.

I'm looking for a replacement now!

maybe take a picture of your knife to the restaurant and offer a $50 reward. I'm sure the bus boy could use $50 more than your knife.

Best of luck, i know it must be a sickening feeling.

Might be a good idea. I bet the person who found it has no idea what he is holding, just thought it was a free knife.

I wish I had good news...been back to that place twice...

I do have a beautiful empty box with some washers, a blue cloth, and an allen wrench...I don't know how long I should keep it around..I feel crappy everyone I see it.

did you go back w/an offer of a reward?

If you feel bad about what you are holding onto, maybe do a giveaway in the CRK area. Some good karma may put you in a good mood.

Sorry to see that you've not gotten it back. I had hoped to see you post that you'd gotten it back.
