Stone grit doubt.

Ok. A question from who knows these stones.
I have both but for me looks like the 1000 grit is coarser than 650. Is there any variations between brands? AmI right or is just my brain?

These are from the same manufacturer, Suehiro. I have no experience with their stones, but the website describes that the No. 650 is actually #280. The top one is also described as for home kitchen knives, while the latter is for professional chefs.
 
Strange... I could swear that 650 listed as 280 is finer than 1000. I have seen a table with grit comparison but there is no much differences between grits except fepa-p and fepa-f. Thanks.
 
I didn't look at with magnified lens, but the feeling when pull/push the stone on the knife looks coarser. Great tip, next knife I'll pay attention to this. Thanks miso2.
