Hey guys it's been a while since I have posted anything, but I am usually on here several times a day checking things out. I bought a set of DMT bench stones about two years ago. They are double sided, and came in a wooden box. The box is alright as far as a holder goes... but I feel like there could be something a little better. I have seen a holder that DMT sells, but I was wondering what yall use? Thanks for any suggestions or advice.

The top stone holder is made of red oak, i took a light flame to it and then stained it with an almond color. I made that one about 3 months ago. The bottom one is an online purchase. They both work great. But my home made one is definitely the favorite. It will accommodate from a two and one quarter inch stone to a ten inch stone. :D

I use the holder that DMT sells and I like it. It has rubber feet that keep it from sliding and shifting.

I also use the holder DMT sells. It locks the stone in tight, and for the most part the feet don't slip
.

Thanks guys. I didn't know if most everyone one using the store bought holders, or if folks was getting creative and building their own

The generic rubber stone holder with the threaded metal rods is fantastic. You can find it under the Steelex brand on Ama, or as other brands on ChefKnivesToGo and other places. It holds stones extremely firmly if you want it to and is extra super non-skid since it's made of rubber. I use mine just about every time I break out the DMT plates or waterstones.

The only thing I'd make sure of is that your DMTs have feet or some kind of stand off. With my Diasharp 8x3 plates, they clear the rubber by a small amount and that's only because they have stick on rubber feet under the plates. If the plates were just bare, I don't think they'd clear the rubber of the stone holder. I hope that makes sense.

Brian.

I just place my DMT bench stones on a thick piece of leather, which keeps them from sliding around. Or you could stick those little transparent plastic buttons on the bottom.
