Recommendation? Stone to strop: 1.5k to 4-5k too much?

Hello!

I’ve had an edge pro for about a year now that I have loved, but I’ve decided to get myself a kme instead. ( I don’t like holding the blade)
On my EP My progression was 140 diamond, 220, 500, 1k, 4K,(shaptons)
Which would give me a nice polished edge that I’d finish off on my stropman white( supposedly 4.5.5k grit) then green compound.( 8k?)
With that progression I got some shiny blades but like I said I’ve decided to get a kme instead
The kme would be diamond stones 100, 140, 300, 600, and 1.5k
Now I’ve decided to try and avoid buying their strops and lapping films since I have Stropmans with white, green and red compounds. So I’d be jumping from 1.5k on the diamond to around 4-5k on the first strop.
This would be easier if stropman had actual confirmed microns but I don’t believe they do :/

Would that be too big of a jump?
Should I get the kme 2.5k stone then?
I’d prefer to not spend more but I don’t want to spend forever stropping haha

Any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks!

That step sound fine. Most of the work should be done on your stones at the lower grits anyway and you have a good set of grits there, so it doesn't matter that much if your strop is 4/3/2/1 micron. In fact, in my case I prefer a 1 micron strop, I want to do most of the work on my stones and only very lightly abrade at the apex when I'm stropping. Basically, I don't want the strop to undo all the toothy-ness and scratch pattern that I worked up on the lower stones, thus, a less aggressive strop. Also, I don't see much point in getting the intermediate 2.5k stone. I often jump straight from a 1200 mesh diamond plate to a 8K plate, or to a 1 micron strop, and have not seen any issues with that progression.

try it, see if it works for you.

my progression runs to 2000, then I go to .5mic on a strop

sometimes I skip the strop - sometimes I go from 1000 to strop.
