Yes or no.

Assuming that it's done properly with the proper ceramic media etc.

Would it increase the chances of pitting/rusting?

Thanks

Not sure about the rusting...But it is one of the coolest finishes i have seen so far

In general, it will rust faster than a nice bright sanded finish, but it is much better than grit blast.

yes like nathan said it will rust faster than if you where to do a mirror polish.

I'd say it's no worse than a satin finish, but I can't speak from experience just yet.

Keep it oiled, and it shouldn't be an issue.

Probably depends on the carbon steel a bit too? I seem to recall you like O-1, I'd try and avoid any finish that has increased chance of corrosion with that one =(

We tumble carbon steel at work all the time. As long as all surfaces make contact with the media there will be no rusting. If rust develops in the pivot/pin holes you can just run a paper dremel bit through it with compound to take it off.

I suppose you cant use water when you tumble it can you? does it work o.k. dry

Yeah, for a little while. But it loads up if you run it dry, so you typicaly run it wet. You run a rust inhibitor in the water. I use a regular coolant/cutting fluid cut fairly lean (3%).
