This is my first try at a stone wash on a blade. I don't have a tumbler so I had to do it by hand ha! I washed both the blade and the lock rocker so they would match. It was a bitch putting this knife back together. Put an edge back on it with an Edge Pro and I think it looks pretty good. But, I think I may go buy a tumbler and really try it again.

Where do you buy acid for etching?

Looks great! Good work!

You can get the acid at Radio Shack. Just don't leave it in too long. :)

I like it. any tips for reassembly? I had to do that today. It really is a pain in the ass... and I feel that the use of those pathetic little plastic nubs on the backspacer (you know the ones...) are weak.

but really nice stone wash

The spring is really difficult to deal with. I ended up threading the 3 screws on the end of the handle (opposite the blade) then pushing the spring in place and holding the knife together while I threaded the remaining screw and pivot. You kinda have to put half the knife together, push the spring in place, then put the rest together.

There is a video on youtube showing a good way to reassemble that puts no undue strain on the backspacer tabs.

That's it. I gotta stonewash a blade. I see pics like this all the time and they always look amazing.

Looks nice, a change, but a subtle one.

Radio Shack PCB Etchant diluted 50/50 with water works well, just use nail polish on the parts that you don't want etched (lockface, pivot area, etc.).

Nice work! I still prefer a stonewashed/media tumbled finish over all others.
