Here is my first attempt at a stone washed finish. I am not sure if i like it or not. I would like to hear some opinions on it. My wife said it just makes the blade look old.

I sanded the blade to 400 grit and then tumbled it. The finish is not nearly as forgiving as a sand blasted finish, it tends to highlight flaws.

I don't know, on some knives with some materials I think it looks good, on others not so much. I will say it looks good on that knife, but then so would mirror finish or hand rubbed.

I think it looks pretty darn good. But, then again stonewashed is one of my favorite finishes.

Can I ask what type of media and what type of tumbler you used?

Thanks! I've really been wanting something to do a stonewash finish with, but that one's not really in the budget just yet. Looks like a solid unit though:thumbup: I'll have to keep that one in mind.

Hey John, I think the finish turned out pretty nice. Overall, I give the knife as a package a definite thumbs up! Looking good.

Yeah, it does highlight certain flaws. But it tolerates wear better than a blast finish and I think it looks better. You might experiment with different media and fluids to find the finish you're looking for.
