Stones for sharpening serrated edges with fixed-angle sharpener?

I have a fixed-angle sharpener and I am still amazed at how easily I get mirror edges...
Now I was wondering whether there are stones that can be used with the sharpener to work on serrated edges. I searched around, but haven't found anything yet. So, that's why I'm asking here. What I imagine is a shape like a cylinder cut lengthwise.

Any pointers?

Thanks,

Marko

If by 'fixed angle sharpener', you're referring to a rod-guided system, some manufacurers of other guided systems do make triangular ceramic hones specifically for serrated blades. Lansky is one such maker that comes to mind, and there are others as well.

Might be helpful to specify exactly what sharpener you're using, so it'll be easier to figure out what's compatible with it.

There are kind of two ways to approach sharpening a serrated blade:

1. Make it thinner and reach the cutting edge, which makes it sharp, but alters the geometry of the scallops and points of the serrations. It will get very sharp this way with relatively low effort.
2. Grind each scallop individually using a tool that will closely maintain the exact shape. This does the minimum geometry alteration and will keep the points maximally pointy. It can yield a very sharp edge if you grind all the way to the edge and carefully deburr the back (flat) side of the edge. But it requires comparatively high effort.

A fixed angle system could actually do either one. #2 is harder no matter the system, but produces the best results. I like doing things "properly" the vast majority of the time. But for most serrated edges, I choose method #1 instead.

Brian.

Thanks for the pointer. I had come across the KME rod, but I have the MadEdge sharpener and everything is metric on it. So even if the length of the rod would fit, I'd assume that the thread on it is based on US customary units...
