I am planning on ordering the new version of the Brous Blades Silent Soldier with the finger guard. It seems there is stonewashed version only. Has anyone neck carried a stonewashed Silent Soldier under the shirt? Does it form rust easily because of the contact with the body, being that it is made from D2 steel? I know that the sheath comes with a clips, but I am interested in carrying it around the neck. I do not want to get into the reasons for that, because the topic would go to the Prac-tactical section...

I'm in Florida and with the humidity it has rusted on me! Quickly cleaned off the rust and keep a nice coating of oil on the blade now! I use neverdull around the finger holes to remove any light rust! It needs to be maintained but it also sits on the neck very well with not too much moving around.

I just got one in the mail today. im liking it so far I plan to use it as a utility blade for work and keep it around my neck. Working out side in the winter with a Parka on and bibed carharts getting to a pocket knife can be a pain. D-2 has 12% Chromium witch makes it a stainless steel or damn close to it you should be fine. I just game mine a coating of Flitz Wax like I do all my knives and will not have a rust issue. I did replace that Chain with some para cord. Did not like the feel of that cold chain thing around my neck all day.

Does not the wax coating stain your clothes, and more importantly, could it cause some skin irritations? I put coating on all my knives before carrying and using them, but they are either in my pocket or in their sheath.

You can also have someone coat the blade if you're really worried. Cerakote, DLC, etc.

Something not mentioned that greatly impacts corrosion is body pH. Highly acidic sweat will create some issues for you. I like Tuf Cloth and it seems to work reasonably well for repelling corrosion. You might also be interested in looking into Fluid Film, it's amazing stuff.

I have an old model SS Necker in polished D2, and I have had problems with little flecks of rust. My best advice is to wear a shirt between your chest and the knife, and go coated if you can.

I have the black coated one but the coating has worn down to bare metal in spots from using it extensively to cut carboard and as a beater knife. I also have a much thinner edge so there is more exposed and ground steel and I never oiled it and never had a rust issue. If you just wipe it down at the end of each day you should be fine I'd think. I really like it but I just don't typically like having anything around me neck so after a few weeks I started back pocket carrying it in while working in a non air conditioned machine shop over the summer in 100 degree heat, so the shop was often 110 mid-day. I was always sweating and at times the knife actually was noticably damp (gross I know) and I still never had any rusting issues.
It could be though that I have a lower body ph as well though.
