So I love the look of a stonewashed blade, and I really like my Sage 2. Today I got the bright idea to stonewash the Sage 2 myself. I know the Techno and its stonewashed blade is an option, but I like the look of the Sage better and it will be a fun project.
As I understand it, I just need some ferric acid, a tumbling medium and something to tumble it in. I have never done this before so I will practice of a couple cheap blades first.
But I have some questions:
1) Will this destroy the resale value of the knife?
2) Would the stonewashed blade still be food safe after the ferric acid dip?
3) I understand doing this will dull the blade. With enough time and patience, can I bring the edge back with my Sharpmaker and the diamond/medium/fine/ultrafine rods?
Thanks so much!
