Has anyone taken there stonewashed BG-42 blades and polished them on there own? What materials did you use to get the job done?

I appreciate any feedback that I can get.

I've used medium scotch brite pads to get a satin finish. About one level up from stone wash, if you went from there to fine scrotch brite, then jumped to maybe 1000 grit paper then to 2000.

I think I'd practice on something else first though.

Dave, I agree with practicing on spmething else first. Thanks for your reply, I have a few other knives that I will get a little practice on first. I just love polished blades.

I sugggest you use a firm backing with the abrasive paper. Something like hard felt or rubber. This will maintain the flat surface and prevent waves in the reflected light.

Post a photo when the project is finished.

FK
