Hey,
Does any of you guys know how to stonewash a knife?
Do any of you have any stonewashed Beckers, and do you know anyone you will stonewash?

put the knife in a sealable container with some rocks of different sizes (leave enough room for some movement) and some oil then put it in your drier on cool for a few hours.
 
1. Strip the blade
2. find small marble size rocks
3. find a container the knife will fit in be able handle some impact.
4. put knife and rocks in container with WD-40
5. wrap a towel around container then wrap with some duct tape
6. throw container in dryer for 2-3 hours on tumble dry
5. open container, sharpen and you will have a nice stone washed blade....
 
I put some aquarium rocks and WD- 40 in a large vitamin bottle with whatever folder blade or clip I want to do. Then I put in the dryer with some old towels for an hour or so...works pretty good.
 
Sweet thread. I'm going to try this, because I really dig the look of a stonewashed blade. I always just assumed you needed a blast cabinet and whatnot to get this done. You know what happens when you assume...
 
Flexxx has gotta post up the link to the photo thread he did for his stonewash job. It made me realize that he's actually a supar genious.
 
I wonder if you could cut a pvc Rod or something to size, to jam the container to the wall of the dryer so you can get the tumble effect without the broken dryer effect?

That washing machine + brick thing was hilarious, by the way. But yes, Flexxx seems to know how to do it. I think the towel would be a good idea.
 
Love the stonewash look but I know If I threw a knife in the wifes super fancy schmancy dryer she would fillet me with her 5.
 
Thanks again for the knowledge guys. I'm pretty stoked about this. I'm going to do this to my BK2 and my Fehrman, if I can find a container big enough. I got some small rocks today, so we'll see what we can do. I'll post pics if I finish it before I head out of town on Monday. It may have to wait until next week...
 
Another way to achieve the same effect is with a random orbit sander. I did this one with 80 grit on a palm sander...

I stonewashed one of my blades at home also, and I think I should warn you that you may have to grind a new tip for your knife afterwards.
