Stonewashed Spydies!

Spyderco is lacking stonewashed blades on their knives. I'm not aware of any spydies with stonewashed finishes.

I would love to get some stonewashed spydies, just my 2¢.

Think they look cheap, but AFAIK the plain vanilla version of the Manix 2 is stonewashed. I'm not saying stonewashed is only used on cheap knives, rather that it cheapens the look of any knife it's on, so there's no need to play the CRK card, I'm well aware they use it.

Personally I think the stonewash finish on the plain jane manix 2's is just about the best blade finish I've ever seen. Very smooth, nothing sticks to it that can't be rubbed off with a thumb which is something that can't be said for many satin finish blades. It would be interesting to see if it positively effects rust resistance as well, mine went "swimming" with me in the river yesterday and so far so good.

It would be nice to see more with the finish, albeit on a limited basis, as the satin finish is much classier on most knives.

I'm the flip side of The Deacon. A user just looks better with a sw blade finish than a marr that may take years to blend in on a satin, machined finished blade. Personally, I don't equate a sw finish with a cheap look but that is certainly a matter of taste.

The analogy I like to use is a high end stainless steel sink. They look awesome unused, then they look sort of used and abused when they get their first scratches but then years later, they start to look good once again from the natural stone washing they get from all use scratches and as the scratches even out and blend all over.

To me, a sw blade finish takes you to that last stage right off the bat.

For a solid work knife, I also prefer a stone washed finish. I don't mind how it looks, it's not hideous to me. It also serves a purpose (hiding scratches). I think a satin finished knife loaded with scratches is a bit more unsightly than a well done stonewashed blade. The S35VN Mule has the perfect finish in my opinion.

Something Like this :)

Yes! I would love to see stonewashed spydies! SW does not show scratches, and it does not show fingerprints as easily as satin finish.

When it is done right, I really like the look of a stone wash finish.

The best SW finish I have seen so far was from Emerson. I haven't seen many though.

I like Satin and Stonewash, but if I had to pick pick one, stonewash for me, but I have Spydies by far than any other brand of knife, so I guess other aspects to a knife trump the blade finish.

I would like to see more with tumbled blades. They look good, and do a great job of hiding scratches.
