Stonewashed v. Bead-blast

Hi all. I am considering purchasing a Microtech LCC after reading so many positive comments by everyone here.

However, I HATE, DESPISE, and ABHOR with a passion bead-blast finishes. I can't stand the rust spots that easily appear in the surface of these blades. Microtech also offers a "stonewashed" finish. Can someone tell me what this means, and do stonewashed blades suffer from the same rust-attracting problem of bead-blast blades?

Thanks!

Stonewashed blades have been tumbled in a ceramic stone media. This gives the blade an almost "galvanized" effect. The surface is very smooth and slick and looks as though it wouldn't harbor rust causing acids and moisture like beadblast does.

Here are the advantage of different finishes; Beadblast=reduces blade shine, Stonewash= reduces appearance of blade scratches, Black=reduces shine and rust (in most cases) but scratches and shows wear easily.

Personally I have a stonewashed LCC. It is my first stonewashed blade and I am very happy with it. I would suggest this finish for everyday use.

Stonewashed blade it is! Thanks for your prompt and informative reply. Now I have the most difficult task of all -- rounding up the cash. Ulp!

Chris Reeve's Sebenza comes with a stonewashed finish. It holds up very well, not only against scratches, but also from juices or plant sap not sticking to it.

I just took delivery of a Sifu with stone washed finish. Dont know how it will hold up,but I dont like the looks as well as bead blasted, it looks very gavanized as others have said.

Aesthetically I agree that stonewashed is not as "pretty" as the other finishes. But I think for durability and long term ability to keep its looks, stonewashed is "THE" finish to get.
