Stonewashing a kizer

So I just bought a kizer t1. I looooove the knife but I hate the finish on the handle scales. Very cheap looking and feeling imo. I have experience stonewashing but just wondering if it needs any prep work as far as the finish that came on the knife first. I've never stonewashed anything with a finish like this and was just wondering if I can just stonewash em just like they are or if I have to sand em down or something, is this a blasted finish on this knife? Do I need to sand it first or will it look alright if I just stonewash it on top of the finish that's already on it

Try two things... Stone wash it as is OR sand, dip, and wash.

There is no telling what you may like from my house.
I deal w/ acids all day (and night;)). Bases are similar in results but I would suggest finding a crapper in the same steel, and sampling first.

I'm certain you will find a method that YOU are happy with whether it is popular or not.

I'm thinking you might want to contact some of the service providers from here, like Josh at REK, and see if they have any experience along these lines.

As an aside, I'll say I personally don't see anything cheap-looking in photos of the T1. Looks like a nice, clean knife.

Yea it doesn't show itself apparent in the pictures. Its like one of those wire wheel finishes. Up close and in person it looks almost like grey paint and I really don't like it. Would love a dark stonewashed look. Its an awesome knife I love everything except the finish on the scales.. Personal preference I guess.
