Before y'all ask I can't do a "search" I keep getting the error message thingy.

I was given a Indiana General Motor Products gear motor and 40:1 reducer. The plate says it's a 1 1/2hp, 1725rpm 90v DC motor. I want to make a VS and reversing disk grinder out of it (already got a 9" disk) where is the cheapest place to find the proper controller?

I've got a controller for a 120V DC gear reduction motor. I don't know if it's rated at 11/2 HP though. You would probably have to modify/replace an electronic part for it to do that. The motor I have(Bodine) is about 1/2HP aproximately.
Funny, the small one I have has several times the torque of my 11/2 HP variable speed motors due to the gear reduction.
A 11/2 like you have would be capable of pulling your house off the foundation. ;) :D

I found a Bodine DC Controller on eBay, would it work with my motor? The seller says it'll only work with Bodine motors, don't see how that's possible.

Mike you selling your controller?

Gouge, thanks.

Will, sure, I'll sell the controller seperately. Keep in mind that it's an open controller, and you will have to build an enclosure for it, but most of those from Surplus Center are open too.
On mine, everything is mounted on steel plates, so it's not just a jumble of parts.
