We were on vacation last week in Idaho. Drove up there from San Diego to check out some possible locations for our retirement. I knew had to make it a priority to stop by Chris' shop in Boise. This should be a Mecca for any one even remotely interested in knives of any kind. I had my small Insingo with me, that I originally was going to mail to them for a tune up. The blade was bit stiff opening. Figured it needed some new washers, which it did.
Alecia greeted my son and I when we walked in. She asked where we were from, I said San Diego. She was so pleasant and very cordial. I explained the situation about my Sebbie. She took in the back and said they'd check it out for me if I didn't mind waiting. I was expecting to have to leave it with them, and have it mailed back to me, but she quickly informed me that it would be done in about 10 minutes. Wow! That was amazing.
My son was drooling on the display cases that housed all the knives in the showroom. I saw some of the most amazing freehand artwork on some of the Sebbies there each one totally unique and one of a kind. Alecia showed me her Mnandi. Yeah, any gal who carries is my kind of woman! I got to handle the new Inkosi model that was just released at Blade (which I didn't get to attend) and knew right away it was going to be my next blade purchase. I was concerned with the cutout in the handle at first glance, until I held it. It fit my hand like it was custom made for me (i have small hands). I like that it the same size as my small Sebbie. it has a new stop-pin feature on it that really set it apart from the Sebbies, you have to see it to understand. I think it's going to get alot of manufacturers thinking.
My son really liked the Professional Soldier knives he saw and bought one. I convinced him to get the tanto grind (one of my favs). The Pro Soldiers were the only knives they had in stock, as everything else was backordered, so we lucked out for sure! My son procalimed it was one of the best "souvenirs" he ever had but soon figured out it was more than that!
My son was paying for his knife when Alecia soon brought my Insingo out from the back, handed it to me and said it was ready to go. It opened like butta'! I asked how much I owed her. . . "No charge". I was stunned. I had to buy something from them, and really wanted to buy a couple of t-shirts but Alecia gave them to us also!
I have heard of many accounts about the excellent customer service from Chris Reeve Knives, and I wanted to say that they are in fact TRUE. This was one of the most refreshing experiences I have had in along time. A lot of folks out there, think there is a lot of hype and that CRK's are "over-rated". Well you are entitled to your opinions. What you have when you buy a Chris Reeve knife is a philosophy, and an understanding that this a person who not only understands knives but his customer, and complete quality. In other words he "gets" it.
Thank you so Alecia and all the folks at CRK. Chris, you have a customer for life.
