storage/display thing

for some time ive been storing my knives in active rotation by clipping them to the lip of the box on the closet shelf where they are stored. its kind of nice, walk to the closit and choose pants, shirt, and knife for the day.

point was- i wanted to share how nice they all look clipped there in a row and i was wondering if anyone had devised a more presentable way to display/store there clipits in this fasion. maby a picture frame with a belt of some sort across the middle to clip to? get them out where i can enjoy them all at once.

one important factor for my storage has to be to keep them out of my toddlers reach, thats how they got banned from the nightstand in the first place.

sal,
you guys have some sort of "spidie mediallian" i could mount on whatever frame/thing i come up with? no? if i spam the forum will you carve a spider out of some blue g-10 for me? (im thinking about 2" round will do fine) just like the sticker on my truck, but 3-d.

Rich - Spyderco uses a roll up soft pack with 32 window compartments large enough for a large Clipit. The sales crew use them to carry samples to shows. We're in the process of making another run becuase some of the distributors (& ELU) have asked for some. If anyone is interested, I'll send one to James to take some pics when the final refinement comes in.

Sal,
I will MOST DEFINATELY be interested, but I'll need at least three! How will we be able to order these, or will I have to use a SPECIAL ORDER through Ramrod here in South Africa?

sal, that would be great.

that would be a nice way to tote them about in groups, and to safly store those not in active rotation.

a pic would be nice if james is so inclined.

can i assume there is a nice logo on the outside?

Sal,

Would it be possible to sell it through the BF Store?

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow....in Australia it's tomorrow already.

I've seen the rolls the Spyderco folks use and everyone should have one! They are black cordura with clear poly sown into pockets that the knives fit into. Add a stiffening rod to the top and a couple of sewn in loops big enough so you can hang them on light-weight picture hooks and they would make a great way to store and carry you knives.

Until they are made for the market the method I use is to place the open blades between the pegs of a mini peg board that can be found in most craft stores. The blade rests on a small wooden peg and is levered against the underside of the peg above it. Think of a pencil held horizontally between two fingers of the same hand. I hang the little critters on the wall and insert and remove knives at will.

Take care,

Mike

Sal...I could use several of those myself to display my engraved and unengraved stock to dealers and customers.

I'm supposed to see a finished piece next week. Embroidered Spyderbug I'm told.

Don't know the price yet. Spyderco dealers should be able to get them through Spyderco or through their distributor. I believe that Michelle has a plan and is on top of it.

ELU will probably be able to get them through the Spyderco Factory Outlet.

Clay - I think the BF store will be a bit tied up with the BF Native for a while.

Brian - Funny you would bring that up. We're now sending one of the finished pieces to James to see if he can figure out a way to show it on the forum. We call them SpyderPacks.

They came out very nice. We've had some trouble getting exactly what we wanted. Michelle and her staff did an excellent job. Quality Custom bags are not easy.

Unfortunately, they're not cheap. We're selling them for $50 each. That is one price to all. Dealers, Distributors and ELUs. They're too expensive to build to try to create a "re selling" plan.

I don't expect that we'll sell very many. It is a very niche item. I can't imagine their ever wearing out. Spyderco & the "bug" embroidered in gold on the top.

I'm also testing a half size bag (in width).

James probably doesn't yet know it's coming.
Hi James?

Cool! Thanks for the info, Sal. I'll be looking forward to seeing James' scan.

BTW, are you planning on attending the NY show in a couple of weeks?

Brian - Gail and I are scheduled to go. I'm also waiting for my daughter to have her second baby. A delay on one would affect the other.

All the best with your new grandchild, Sal. I hope that I have the opportunity to meet you & Gail in NYC.

These are very hard to get!
The one I got was instantly taken from me by my wife.
Maybe you are lucky at the show in NY.
