In their original boxes inside a chest of drawers. If not in their original boxes, I like to keep them in zippered pouches.

Maxpedition Dodecapod for folders. They rock for ultimate protective storage. I keep my NIB knives in the original packaging and my rotation in a Dodecapod . . .

Ikea has some cool storage options - I got a chest with about 8 thin drawers. Also have a gerstner knockoff chest

+1 here... I keep all the original boxes, but I like to 'see' em in the drawers. Everytime I buy something with the little silica dehumidifiers I put them in the drawers.

For storage, I've lately been using Sack-ups...like the protection and price (at least the price from New Graham).

Silica packets don't tend to do much positive and some negative. Unless the box/container is air tight, they get depleted or just keep drawing new moisture into the box.

My knife box must be pretty air tight. I started doing it because my 'man-cave' where I keep them is also the home of my guitars, and it has a humidifier going almost all the time. I haven't had any troubles with rust on my non-SS knives. But then again, I probably have 30 of the silica packets scattered amongst the drawers, and I put them in the oven every so often.

Are you taking about a place they wont get beat up or a place they cant be stolen from?

Outstanding. It must be pretty air tight in that humid environment. I was gonna suggest heating the silica to "revive" it, but you're already doing that.
I don't use silica, but anything a put away for any time gets a good wipe down with Break-Free. It's worked great on my guns for years and seems to work well on the blades.
