I am going to be in San Jose for a couple of weeks.
Does anyone know of a store I can visit?

Unfortunately, the store with the widest variety in SJ closed down last year. There's a shooting range/gun shop (great selection of guns) with some knives (only a few) in Milpitas called Target Masters.

There's a store in Newark at Newpark Mall. I think it's called John Q's with a small selection.

The 2 stores I go to regularly to check out knives are in San Francisco:

We Be Knives in pier 39. www.webeknives.com
Tad Gear. www.tadgear.com

Look up Stevens Creek Surplus, on Stevens Creek Blvd in SJ.

They've got a corner in the story with a great variety of Spyderco, Benchmade, and others to choose from.

Cool fishwatcher, I might have to check that out soon.

Another place, with lots of selection, including Kershaw, Spyderco, Benchmade, and even Chris Reeves, as well as a few custom knives, is called Armor-Geddon, in Cupertino, at the Valco Fashion Park (Mall). Located off the Wolf Exit on 280.

Cupertino, is just north of San Jose, not far at all.

Don't forget the BAKCA knife show at the Santa Clara Convention Center on October 20th. The boys over at TAD Gear said they will be there too. Stevens Creek Supply indeed has a great selection of knives, folders and fixed, Benchmade, Spyderco, Boker, CS, and a great selection of SAKS, etc and periodically they have a 15% off retail sale. Mt. View Surplus on Bascom and El Camino Real also have knives but not much and Fry's Electronics has CRKT and a few others, lotsa lights if you are into that. You can also check I&I Sports Supply in Blossom Hill. They have a small selection of Benchmades and a large supply of martial arts gear, DVD's, escrima sticks, etc.

Fishwatcher & Matador,

Too cool guys. It's already been a year since BAKCA? I was there last year. On UFC day too, that'll be a fun Saturday for me.

It is the BAKCA (Bay Area Knife Collector's Association) Show and it will be at the Convention Center on Great American Parkway in Santa Clara.

Dude on the 28th of this month is the big Knife Show In Santa Clara!!

Has the date been changed? I got the paperwork from Jeff and Co. for the BAKCA show and it was scheduled for the 20th- I haven't been notified of a date change.

Not to be forgotten, though perhaps smaller, is Trader Sports in San Leandro. Can't speak much for the area (I believe I was about 10 feet from becoming an attempted carjack victim behind the block it's on ), but it's where I first held a benchmade 710 :D. They have a decent selection of Spydies, Benchmades, CRKT, Cold Steel, and a few others. Can't speak for their business practices (revoked gun dealing license anyone?) but still, worth a look. Plus they got surefires and other things for sale .

Ooops! I had it wrong. The knife show is on the 20th. Got my dates mixed up with the Serj Tankian concert that is on the 28th.

Neeman,

If you find yourself in the San Jose Area on October 20, come by the Santa Clara Convention Center for the annual BAKCA Knife Show http://www.bakcainc.org . There will be plenty of custom and production knives to look at and enjoy.

I'm making it to annual BAKCA Knife Show for sure! Saturday is my day off of work!!

+1 for the stevens creek surplus, carries a nice array of knives plus other cool stuff that'll keep you busy shopping.

There is another John T store in Oakridge Mall which is in San Jose. There selection isn't as good as the surplus but worth checking out if you were in the mall.
