Storeing Disposable Lighters?

I am just curious if anyone knows of any possible danger of storeing a couple of disposable butane lighters along with some other emergency supplies. Stuff to be kept in sealed containers, along with the rest of the stuff I have stashed away at home. Kind of have the feeling that there might be something wrong here, but can't recal any any praticular warnings. Any one tell me if this is a good/bad idea?

Problem: If the gas release button on a butane lighter gets pressed down by something while in storage, the butane will leak out (possibly reacting with other substances in the bag) and the lighter won't work when you need it.

Cure: Lock the gas release button in the "up" position by tightening an electrical cord zip-tie around the lighter and under the lip of the button. This keeps the button from being depressed and the butane leaking out. When you need to use the lighter you just cut the zip-tie off the lighter. This is an idea someone else originally posted. Giving credit where it's due, just don't know to who.

Or...get the lighters with the child-proof release on them.

I like the Cricket Electronics. If you prefer traditional flint-styles, they are easily found also.

I would think that the tie would add girth that would store differently than ones without ties.

MHO/YMMV
