Hi there everyone! I just recently ordered my first Spydie in years. I used to have an Endura but sold it to a buddy and bought an old Jess Horn with the micarta handle but still to this day have no clue what happened to that knife..it just disappeared. I have a Sage 1 in the mail on it's way to becoming my new EDC. I am just posting this hoping to hear some good stories and hear some Sage love for this little knife. I have the suspicion that I am going to love carrying it. Post any pictures you want too. Thanks guys!

I don't have any stories about mine, but it's a great knife. I like the way it feels when held in the choil position, and also like how the CF with the wire clip slides into your pocket.

Good to hear, I work in an office and like the fact that the clip and knife wont be very visible when I carry it. It also looks like a perfect size for all the stuff I do outside the office and on my weekend hiking trips. I carry a small buck vantage pro at the moment.

It is a great smaller knife for sure. As far as using it on hiking adentures, there are some obvious limitations (it's not a fixed blade), but it can excel for standard cutting tasks.

Good deal, I got it mainly for just small all purpose tasks. If I am ever going to do some serious hiking or camping I have a KABAR and some more heavy duty Folders that are more up to the challenge.

It was one of my first Spydies, and still one of my favorites (among about 50 total in collection). I've always said that if you could have only ONE Spyderco knife, I'd pick the Sage 1.

My problem: I couldn't stop at one!

Here's my Sage 1 with the Sage 2:

I hear ya Racer, I am already scoping out the Leafstorm. My issue is that I tend to like either framlock or linerlock and most spydies seems to be lockback. That and the majority of them are pretty large and I know that living in southern california one is not really allowed to carry large ones (it varies between cities) but i would prefer not to press my luck. I don't really find the need for a huge blade anyway. I'm not some mall ninja who needs a 4 inch blade to open a bag of chips or a box. I am a graphic designer who works in an office.. Granted I do carry at least a 3.75 inch blade when I go hiking.

Nice pictures. I will have to snap a shot of mine when I get it. Hopefully later this week. So far I don't believe I have read a bad review of the Sage 1. I may end up getting a Sage 2 depending on how I like the 1. Though I am still liking that Leafstorm. And It is kind of ironic that is was designed by a fellow graphic designer.

I loved my Sage 1! It was my first spyderco and first real knife. I loved its satin finish. Nothing about it dissapointed me. It was flawless. I recently sold it not too long ago and regretted it. I will have to pick up another sometime in the future! My only one problem is that the clip started to get a little loose so it wouldnt snag as tight. But it really was a great knife!

I have one in my pocket right now! or do I wait, I cant feel it. Oh no its there its just super lightweight and sexy.

That's the idea. I dont wanna know it's there but want it there when I need it. Funny...I was in the kitchen last night and needed to open something but hadnt switched my knife from my slacks to my jeans an fell and tiny second of panic when I reached to my back pocket and there was no knife clipped there. I hate that. It was in my other pants obviously but still.

The knife is capable of many tasks. I carry mine at the office for everyday tasks and it also accompanied me to hunting camp this fall. It performed flawlessly at the intended purpose I brought to camp for which was field dressing and skinning my deer. You couldn't shave with it anymore when I was done but it still had a very nice working edge. You might keep an eye out for an original ParaMilitary (not a paramilitary2), I believe they only had a 3 inch blade and that would make it legal for you to carry anywhere you currently carry the Sage1.

Sounds good Bull, I'm looking forward to using it. I'm not sure I would use it for dressing a deer, I haven't been hunting in about 6 years, there aren't really any good places to do so in Southern Ca. I have my good array of hunting knives for the bloody dirty work (Fav is my Buck Alpha Hunter, I was got mine when they were still made of ATS 34) and it has done some quick work of a few rabbits and smaller game over the years. Though it has been good at gutting some fish in the recent past actua

Sage 1= folding throwing use hard batoner spread duty heavy tactical screwdriver. Badass.

The Sage 1 is one of my favorites for edc.

It went through the wash once when I forgot to take it out of my jeans pocket. It opened in the dryer and the handle of the dryer drum drove the knife deep into the thick plastic housing of the lint filter, stopping the drum cold and tripping the circuit.

After backing the drum off I could not get the knife out and ended up using a rubber mallet to pound down on the knife handle and pivot it out of the plastic. It needed sharpening but seems to be no worse for wear.

Besides being great EDC knives I really like the purpose behind the design of the Sage line. I think that it's awesome that Sal is honoring the inovative lock designers with homage knives. So far we've had liner lock, intergal frame lock, bolt action lock and front lock versions. I wonder what if anything is next. I'd love to see a compression lock Sage, but I just can't see Sal releasing a knife honoring his own lock design.

Here's my Sage family, eagerly awaiting the the design of a new member.

There is nothing I don't like about my sage 1. I love how the carbon fiber is comfortable and provides decent traction. I would say it is even grippier than my G10 knives once they get worn out.
