I know storing knives in a leather sheath is a no-no, but what about storing in a kydex/concealex/securex sheath?

I don't pretend to know anything about those materials you mention, but I would say that if there's moisture in them...or if they are sealed in such a way as to trap moisture...including damp air....then you would get the same affect as storing a blade in leather.

Those materials are hi-tech plastics, so I don't think they'd retain moisture. I guess the same goes for nylon. But I'm not so sure...

I regularly store knives in polymer sheaths. No problems. If they're going to be stored for an extended period of time, I do give the blades a quick wipe with a Tuff Cloth if one is handy, or if not WD-40, CLP, silicone cloth etc.

The polymers do not absorb moisture and since they are not cured, there are no issues with acids leaching out of the material and damaging the blade.

Vegetable tanned leather will not leak nasties on your blade either. (I was educated by Leatherman on that little tidbit).
