Hello everyone,
Just a quick question here.
I really enjoy hanging axe heads and have found myself buying good handles when I come across them so I don’t have to search for a nice one when the need arises. I seem to have 8-10 spare handles that are bare.
my question is, what is the best way to store these so they don’t dry crack or warp ? I’d hate to waste a good handle.
Can I give them a rub down with linseed oil and put them on a shelf till it’s time to fit them ? Best laying down or maybe vertical in a milk crate or cardboard box ?
Thanks in advance.

I like to store mine laying flat. I have seen warpage happen from standing up handles in storage, or leaning them against a wall. Others may have better ways but mine seen to be fine laying flat on shelves or even bundled and tied together laying flat.
I will lightly sand and coat mine in boiled linseed oil & then once I mount them up I use a propane torch to create character on the wood, and then re-coat with BLO as needed.
Have fun!
