I'm trying to get a personal survival kit together the size of an altoids tin. I have everything figured in except water purification. Any suggestions on storing a few idodine tablets such as potable aqua outside of the glass vial it comes in?

I think they degrade pretty quickly when exposed to air and light. My best guess is, if you want a smaller package, wrap them up as well as possible and rotate them out of stock every couple months or so. Hopefully others have better ideas.

Try Potassium Permangenate instead of Iodine, it has a longer shelf life and has some other interesting properties that may come in handy in a small survival kit. It's what the British S.A.S. use.
