Another ocd question I’m sorry, is a 17 inch plastic tool box ok to store a couple of my favourite stainless steel blades long term or would it get humid in there? Thanks all!

I kept my knives in one for years without issues.
If you're worried though you can get these moisture absorbing pouches to put in with them.

If they are not in their boxes, I put mine in ziplocks. The 'snack' ones work great for most normal sized folders. The ziplocks also keep them from scratching, and dinging each other. Vids/Pics of knives in drawers, or in piles drives me nuts.o_O

:) So long as they're put away clean and dry with a little anticorrosive coating and separate from leather sheaths , you should be fine .

Just never two of the same exact model in one box , 'cause who knows what could happen ! ;)

Haha too late mate!

I use little tins of silica gel that change color when they're loaded up. They're reusable, when they go clear you just throw them in the oven to dry them back out. I got them on the big river site, the brand name is hydrosorbent, and I've been using them in my gun safes for a while and they seem to work well.

I’ve had knives, chisels, gouges, firmers and veiners in wooden, plastic and metal toolboxes for many years. Not much rust ever happened, but what did was the result of the environment the boxes were kept in and not a result of the boxes themselves.

I store knives and guns by thorough cleaning, coat lightly with RIG ,,wrap in rust preventing paper and put in zip-lock bag . Sheaths must be stored separately !

I bought 4 large plastic air tight containers from STOREABLES and then put a cheap battery operated humidity detector and large packet of desiccant in the box. I'm using 2 of the 4 plastic bins now and need to get my tail in gear and get to the others.

#1 - Wax coat your knives with Renaissance Wax and place them in the airtight plastic bin
#2 - Put in the humidity detector
#3 - Prep the desiccant which means you heat it in an oven to remove the water from it, and place it in the plastic bin...and close it up
