Storm and the Storm II

Haven't handled the II, but the Storm might be the most underrated knife I've ever owned or handled.

The storm II was my edc for years and my first kershaw. Then I left in on my bumper

I have knives that are more expensive, better steel, less weight..blah..blah...blah, I still carry the Kershaw Storm 1470ST almost everyday, and others just take it's place. I use it so much that the trac-tec insert was coming off and I had to glue it back in.

Here is a comparison of the 2 storms.

Thanks for the pics, this is the first time I have seen them side my side. I just bought 5 storm II's

They made them in both flat and hollow grind. Great knives for the money. The flipper is sooooooooo small it is pointless IMO.

Are the newer ones flat ground?

I am patiently waiting for them to arrive. Whats the difference from flat to hollow?

My storm 2 1475 dated jan 07 would be made of ? Is it aus 6? It really performs somewhat like 13C, an all time favorite of mine.

I know whatever it is it strops like a dream and cuts like a laser. It's amazing for it's price range.

They were all Sanvik 13C26, unless the last ones were 14C28N. I don't think they were ever made with 440A.

I am 100% sure AUS6 wasn't used at ant time.

Is yours flat ground or hollow?

A Storm II was my first Kershaw, and got me started on Kershaw in general. I still have it in my emergency roadside kit. :D

What is the difference from flat to hollow grind? Tell me and I can then check my knives this friday when they get here.

Maybeso - Storm II was also my first kershaw, the price was low and the blade bigger than any other knife in the showcase, had it for years. Lost it, replaced it with a blur, just lost that, gonna carry the storm II again... and put a big neon colored lanyard on it, and maybe a strobing led light that turns on automatically when it is taken out of my pocket.

I am pretty sure the storm has always had Sanvik steel, and I thought it has always been the 14c28n but I am not positive. I do recall wondering why the storm II was cheaper but had better steel than the blur which was then 440. But I dont know if the Sanvik 13C26 is superior to the 440

This one is a hollow ground blade and it nipped me last night after I just stropped it a little. What a steel, Whichever it is ! I could have sworn the earlier ones were aus 6. No matter though. As long as it continues slicing atoms.
