Andy,
Can you tell me anything about the history of this knife? It is marked GP Busse and also Field Grade. The blade is parkerized and has a leather sheath. I would like to know anything you can dredge up from Jerry such as when it was made, original price, quantity made, etc.
TIA
Charlie

WOW!! Where did you get the knife? How long is it? How thick? Never heard of a storm fighter.

Holy frijoles, Charlie! This sounds like an awesomely cool classic Busse. Tell us more, or better yet, post a pic if you can! Pretty please?

HD Charlie,

The Desert Storm fighter you describe could be of several different blade designs. I made them in the late eighties and early nineties. It is A-2 tool steel and was probably purchased at the Fayetteville, NC gun show. We made them for the boys getting shipped out to Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Many were "one of a kinds" as I ground each by hand and wanted to fight the boredom and monotony of grinding hundreds of blades of the same design. I parkerized these after the handles were attached and often the Chromium disbursement in the steel would yield some unusual patterns. I believe the original price was $137.00 with sheath for active military and $187.00 for civilians. Hope this helps.

Jerry,
I apologize for not addressing the question to you directly, but you advised us that you would not have much time for these forums. Of course, my appreciation for your anwers is beyond question, I hope. I now know much more than I was beginning to think I ever would about this knife.
To the others who responded to my questions with a request for a picture, I must sadly reply that I don't have the technical expertise to comply with your requests. If someone could email me the information on how to do this, I would gladly post a picture for all to see. I have a scanner, but not a digital camera, if that can be used to any effect.

Charlie, thanks for the effort in posting the picture, that sure is an awesome looking hunk o' steel!

Newer knew about those A-2 DSSF`s, talking Busse history here..

Amen! A re-release of the DSF would be awesome!!! I have been lamenting the sale of my Boss Jack. But I recently got my hands on a DSF — like a BJ on crack!!
