First ever post so hopefully I don't mess it up too badly.
This knife will be a gift to my son, Levi, who is currently serving in the US Navy.
A little prelude--One of my desires as a father of a son was to find a shared passion with him. Something I could grow old enjoying with him. I had hoped it would be golf, or running, things I really enjoy. Levi tried but was unable to find joy in either. Fast forward to my son graduating High School and joining the Navy. While he was in boot camp his senior class yearbook came. In it there was a section where the graduates entering the military were interviewed. Levi stated in his interview, he joined because "he wanted to follow the example his father had sent, and also to give back to those who had served before him". Reading this quote was an aha moment for the old man. I realized that I had shared things far more valuable/important with him than any of my trivial pursuits.
One of the things Levi really enjoys is sharp, shiny things. He was lamenting not being able to have a fixed blade because of Navy restrictions. This got me to thinking about getting him a knife he could keep. I looked for a sheepsfoot blade, but was unable to find anything I like. Then one day I was able to pick up this knife by Jarrett from ttowntrader.

After researching Jarrett, I found he made a sheepsfoot version of this knife. So I contacted Jarrett and he said he was taking orders. Designing the knife was actually very easy. I chose Denim burlap/micarta as the handle scale since we had gotten Levi's name from my favorite pair of jeans. I then had him make it with a white liner and red pinstripes for a red, white, and blue patriotic feel to honor his service.

To finish it up I would like to add some thanks.
First, to ttowntrader for leading me to Jarrett's work.
Next to Jarrett, for the beautiful knife. Jarrett was also kind enough to offer a discount for Levi's military service.
Finally, to Levi for his service, but mostly for simply being who he is.
