i went to a retirement party for a school district member today, and someone related this story. ill do my best to get all the pertinent details, as it was just from the teller's memory.

one morning an elementary school teacher removed all the desks from her classroom before the students arrived. the students enter to find the classroom empty, and ask their teacher what has happened.

the teacher asks the group what they have done to deserve to sit in their desks. confused, the students ponder and give several replies.

"are we being punished for bad grades?" "no", the teacher replies.

"are we being punished for being bad in some other way?" "no".

as the students stand around the edge of their classroom, unsure of what to do, a group of soldiers enters the room, each carrying a desk. the soldiers place the desks in the room, one for each student, and stand by.

the teacher then says:

"has anyone figured out what you have done to deserve these desks?"

no reply.

"you have done nothing to deserve them. these men and women in uniform who serve our country have earned the right for you."

Thank you to all who have served and are serving in our Armed Forces. let us never forget that there are those who would give their lives for things we take for granted.

That is a great story!! Thanks for sharing that. THANK YOU to all our men & women in the Armed Forces, and those who have served and died in the service to their country. God bless you all!

Awsome story, Thanks to everyone who serves there country; from the army to l.e.o.'s to teachers. You all make a difference.

I hope it is a true story. I think all schools should do that exercise. I am sure that local military bases would be happy to oblige the teachers. It would be good to indoctrinate our children with true traditional values rather than some of the socialistic slants that are permeating throughout public schools. God bless our troops!

That should be mandatory

Perhaps around Nov. 11th?
