Hey guys,

I have been wanting to get a framelock EDC and I think I'd prefer one of the ones I have seen STR do, however it seems like I just need to follow his blog and try to scoop one whenever he does a variation in a blade steel I'm fond of. Is that pretty much the recommended path to obtaining one?

I have quite a few "collectable" knives... But I'm starting to want to just get a few work horse knives that are comfortable enough to get a job done yet not boring at the same time. I love the detail put into these knives as well as being able to watch them evolve via the posts over time. I definitely think one of these are in my future I'm just trying to see how I could be proactive about it.

Well, this is about as good a way as any so its a good start. I don't make many knives although I have done five this year. None have been frame locks though. I have one I could sell used but thats it. I only made 12 knives last year. 10 of them were frame locks so I do expect to make some this year but so far no plan as to when that will be. Being that I work in spurts when it comes to knives there will probably be a couple back to back when I do them but other than this its really the best I can do for a schedule since there is none.

I have this philosophy that less is best. To me a knife need not be any more than it has to be to get the job done and I try to incorporate that keep its simple approach in everything I do. Its nice when people appreciate that. Get back to me privately at STR@bladeforums.com and I'll let you see this used one I have and if you want it you can buy that one. Its a fine user and honestly I'm surprised I've had it this long. :-) I rarely get to keep and use one of my own knives. Ha!

How about a picture of two Mission MPF 3 TI PE both modified by Mr. RICE and a NICE custom HE-MAN titanium frame lock made by Mr. RICE. Photobucket fixed and new method of posting pix figured out.
