I got my 3rd 882 Buck STRider Tarani Folder about 2 months ago. It had a Severe Liner lock Issue. I was going to send it off to Buck but got this idea in the back of my head. I contacted STR in the Makers Forum and he and I chatted and this is what I endend up with:

Nice Job. You didn't say how you felt about it. I like frame locks a lot and it looks like it works well. Good idea.:thumbup::thumbup:

......Really hard to top the work that STR can put out for ya...Well done indeed...A definite upgrade IMO...:)

This Sucka has a true Bank Vault Lock Up. I have always liked these Buck Striders but they have always seemed lacking to me. Well this conversion Cured that issue. And the STR Low Rider pocket clip is an amazing upgrade!!! I could not be happier!!! Now I have to talk him (STR) into doing my Large Spearpoint Buck Strider..... OhhhYeahhhh!!!!!

Very nice........I'm a little frustrated with the liner lock on my 882 as well. I notice the opposite side of the knife, not shown in the photo, still has a liner. Did you leave the G-10 on the back side or does it match the lock side? The Low Rider clip was a great idea too.....Mike

Too cool for school.
Pic of the other side would be nice.
I too like that clip better than the stock.
Good job

Thanks for the additional photos. That looks like a daym solid lock up....nice work.

What issue did you have with the liner lock when the knife was original? For me, I have a hard time using the pad of my thumb to release it. I've been using my thumb nail to push it over. I'm considering re profiling the opposite scale and liner to expose more of the lock. I'm hoping that will give me a little more purchase on the lock....and probably void the warranty......

Well on my original, the dirty one in the photo of three, I have the same issue. When I got this one that was redone I could pop the blade loose from locked position with thumb pressure. So I got to thinkin,,,, Always thought the smaller folding Striders were cool but not worth the $$$$! That is why this colaboration deal was so cool. But for me there was just somethin missing. I kinda thought it was the Ti-Framelock and sure enough, thats what it was for me...

Ouch!

That last picture is very nice. Your knives pick up well on the hood of your car.

Dude, i spent half the day loading these pix for a screensaver. LOL! need about 5 more. Cool rework!
