hi shaveaholics,
in the past I bought the dvd from lynn thomas, the founder of straightrazorplace.com and have enjoyed watching it. I believe it's called 'world of str8 razor shaving' but dont know for sure since I'm on a holiday in france and dont have the thing here :)

I'd like to spread some love, also for those who have never shaved with a str8, and organize a passaround.

the dvd is pretty informative with good info on sharpening, restoring, buying and using str8's. time well spent for me, maybe for you too.

just state when you're interested, and lets get this thing on the road

I'd be interested in seeing it. I'm having a difficult time honing my razor.

Hey THG,

if you pm me with your address I can send it. In the meantime, others can still participate in the passaround. Any str8 shavers out there? :D

I would be interested in seeing it. I just started shaving with a straight this week and could use some info.

I sent Zyhano an email. Hopefully I should be getting it soon, and I'll be sending it to you, next.

Hi guys,
I've been kindof busy, so I haven't gotten around to mailing it.
Will put it in the mailbox tomorrow :)

I got your email. Hopefully the DVD has the answers to my honing troubles lol

Thanks a lot.

Hi guys, it's in the mailbox, THG, you'll be getting it first. It's from europe to the usa so it might take a little longer.
enjoy it guys!

I actually got the package yesterday. I'll be sending it out in a few days. Thanks again.

It looks like JMJones will be the next in line, and then he can pass it to type00rev.

I just wanted to give a little update: I'm still watching the video (on the honing part; it's LONG!) I expect to be done within the next 2 days and will have the DVD sent to JMJones.

Yeah, the honing methods are interesting. I'm not sure I see the point of switching between the 4k and 8k grits every few strokes using this "pyramid" method, but I'll have to try it and see if it helps.

I've never used the pyramid method myself. I don't see the point either, and I get my razors pretty sharp. As long as you refine well on each stone you should be good to go imo.
the guys from the straight razor forums are convinced that razor sharpening and knife sharpening are different. I disagree, fundamentally, the same principles of physics and chemistry apply.

I have a copy of this DVD and usually include it with any straight shaving starter kits I do for friends/family. YES, it is long, yes I usually tell people to watch it at 2x speed, but it is filled with excellent info covering so much more than just the act of shaving (which is a short but thorough segment at the end). I highly recommend it to people who haven't been shaving for very long, want to start honing their own razors or just enjoy listening to somebody besides themselves talk about straight razor shaving :D

Good on ya, Brother, for doing a passaround!

The DVD arrived for JMJones' yesterday morning. So type00rev and JMJones should get in contact and set up a way for the next pass to take place.

I am brand new to straight shaving. I would love to get in on this passaround if I am not intruding.

Cool, your next on the list. I think you will be after type00rev. You two can get in contact about this.
Do you have a razor already?

I got the DVD this week and have watched all but the honing section, that section has frozen up both of my computers. I will try it in the regular DVD machine and hopefully it will work. Either way I will send it on soon.
