I got this BK2 from TPVT and thought it was a great opportunity to mod the blade a little bit. I assume that he did the burlap handles, so all credit goes to him on that!

I started by grinding down the clip as straight as I could by hand. Then, I crowned it on my belt sander and went to work on smoothing it out and getting a nice polish started on it. It's really going to make a great batoning area that won't chew up my baton so badly. I ended up blueing all of the exposed metal, too. So far, I really like the look and feel of it. It's renewed my interest in the BK2, as I had kind of written it off as a blade that was just too much to do anything well.

I'm always impressed with how professional looking these amateur mods are. That's a compliment, in case it wasn't clear. Looks real nice, especially with the custom scales.

I really like that mod. Who would have thought that shaving a few mm's of steel could change the looks so much.

I love the straight clip. I took mine even further, if you recall. I'm looking forward to the clipped 16 mod too. I should probably buy a 17, TBH.

I'm so in love with the thick drop point tip of the BK2 (it's best attribute IMHO), that I'm usually not too fond of clip point mods to it... or any kind of swedge, but I gotta say, that blade of yours looks great, and quite unique!

We have some very talented people here.

And I know Ethan loves to see folks try their hands at making their BKT their own.

Its how Ethan started, and many more. Taking a blank canvas and creating YOUR own knife, not much in this world better.

Oh baby. I like that a lot. I think the blade shape of most drop points is pretty boring, but I like that a lot.

I absolutely love the straight clip. I dunno, but it seems like the BK2 just seem to agree with a clip point.

Very Very nice. Without offense to Mr. EB this actually could be an improvement on the original blade shape.
I have often wondered how a BK2 would look with a proper distal taper full flat grind...............
EDIT: or even a full convex.......

I completely agree. The 2 has sufficient heft and thickness to support a strong point, and, visually, the modded 2s I've seen look better than most knives originally designed with clip points!

Thanks guys, it was a fun mod to do. Like I said, it really made the BK2 a lot more to my liking, too, so big bonus there.

Good to see you around Moosey!
