I dropped out of the bidding pretty early. This would look good sitting on your coffee table on top of LT's excellent book. Can't be many of these around. Note that there was a very 'helpful' person that asked a question, which tossed the word 'Pressbuttom' into the item description... that probably helped people find this knife using their elbay search parameters and drove the price up.

LT, as this knife has advertising on the blade ('Articulated Specialties), do you think it was a company give-away?

These ( civil war ) one armed veterans knives were not made until 1894 when George Schrade began production in Walden NY for Walden Knife CO under a division called The pressbutton knife company. While some of these were simply sold under the Press Button tang marking. Many prostetic companies would buy them and have them etched with there companys name. This was an electro etch and often has long ago worn off. The ones with the etch still visible bring a higher price from collectors. These were not give away knives and were of the companies highest priced items. Handled in embossed aluminum ( which then was very expensive to produce and considered because of this, as a semi precious metal ). LT
