...I really wasn't expecting to have to fix the end of the blade on my new 499. Resharpen, yes. Reprofile, no. And yeah, it's small. And yeah, the knife didn't cost an arm and a leg for it's proven quality.

But still...the tip of my brand new, right out of the sheath from the box knife shouldn't be effed up.

Really? I know it was only $50, but come on...

If it were me I'd reshape the area and call it good. But then again that's just me.

I'm going to have to. I don't feel like going through the whole return thing for a $50 knife.

And while I did expect to have to brighten it up a bit sharpness wise, I didn't expect that it wouldn't even cut paper. Disappointing, that's all.

Funny, I just noticed that my new knife purchased today has a date on the pommel of 3-11 :p

One GREAT thing that I love about the knife (I purchased it from a Bass Pro Shop) is that it came with this card in the box:

There are States that have knife laws written in such a way that a sharpened swage would be considered a prohibited "double edge". Doesn't surprise me that a company that markets nation wide would require this of the manufacturer.

Hi Wacbzz,

I'm sorry about your knife, that's clearly not good enough. If you want, you can return it to us. I know you said you don't want to bother for a $50 knife, but we'll get you a shipping label and make it as easy for you as possible. As for the date, those pommels are made in bulk, but that shouldn't cause any issues. You can always reach our customer service team by emailing knifesales@ontarioknife.com, and they'll be happy for the opportunity to try to make this right for you.

Thanks for the response. The offer is very generous, especially for what the "problem" is, but I've already fixed it and put it in the truck. :D

As for the date, I was thinking that it would have been almost impossible for the BPS that I purchased it from to have had that knife in stock for three or so years but who knows.

Keep up the great customer service. It's exactly why people keep coming back.
