I'm interested in making my own straight razor, or rather, a nice chocobolo handle. I see knife blade blanks all the time, does anyone know if they have a straight razor equivalent (a place where I can buy just a straight razor blade)?

Not really. The Gold Dollar 66 is a popular one to modify, but the blades need a bit o work to be good solid users. Pick up a vintage one in decent condition with ratty scales. Often on the auctions sites you can find bare blades.

I may just make one myself. I have some S30V and S35V. Any forseeable problems?

the carbides in the steel will make for a harsh shave
get a bit of XHP for stainless or 1084 type for carbon steel

After doin a little research, XHP sounds like the way to go. I'm having some trouble finding it though. Do you know of any vendors?

The carbon steels are very forgiving in sharpening and have smaller carbides. One may find them thrown in a box in antique 2nd hand shops. They may have worn or damaged handles but bear a respected name stamp. If the blade looks like it will clean up, go for that one and put your desired handles on it. In the interim read up on sharpening a straight razor. DM
